Finance Assistant – Group Reporting

Location: Milton Keynes office / Hybrid (our office days are Tuesday and Wednesday, with the rest being work from home)Department: Finance
Reporting in to:
Finance Manager - Group Reporting
The financial assistant role will be involved in everything from monthly management accounts and statutory reporting, financial analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, banking, regulatory reporting and more. There will also be opportunities to work on adhoc finance projects, as and when they arise.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Closing the books at month end, include posting journals, accruals and prepayments
2. Helping to produce and analyse the monthly Management Flash Accounts
3. Coordinating the information from across finance and the business for the monthly Board Report and Management Report
4. Preparing bank reconciliations
5. Reconciling and analysing balance sheet accounts
6. Processing transactions in NetSuite
7. Dealing with auditor queries and maintaining audit files
8. Preparing financial information for business unit queries
9. Assisting in the regulatory reporting to the FCA for two small subsidiaries
10. Managing the treasury and banking administration
11. Reporting on processes and controls
12. Looking for ways to continuously improve processes
Who you are:
13. A team player with an open, honest and can-do attitude, who is willing to ‘muck in’ to ensure success of the team as a whole
14. Has strong Excel skills which include lookups and pivot tables
15. Can prioritise and deliver results to strict deadlines, through a proactive approach and ability to manage their workload
16. Curious, with excellent problem solving and investigation skills - and confident in asking questions and utilising the experience of those around them
17. Has a continuous improvement mindset, always looking to improve current ways of working
18. Is willing to adapt to the constantly changing needs of the team and the business as a whole
19. Has experience in and proficient skills in Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, as well as experience using any accounting systems
We would love someone to have any of the following:
20. Experience in a finance team – with an understanding of month end processes and reporting
21. Specific experience in tasks such as posting journals, accruals, prepayments and bank reconciling
22. Knowledge or experience of working with the finance system NetSuite
