Job Summary

Senior Early Help Family Worker – full time permanent position for the 0-4 age range.


Hours of Work

37 hours per week.


Responsibilities

1. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and families.
2. Undertake early help whole family assessments and provide targeted family support for a diverse caseload, including families below the social care threshold or transitioned from the statutory system.
3. Provide targeted family support for families with vulnerabilities such as non/low school attendance, neglect, risk of youth offending, vulnerable pregnancy, family conflict, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health issues, poverty, access to welfare/benefits, SEND, risk of homelessness, poor housing, and others as identified.
4. Lead and supervise the coordination of "team around the family" responses and plans with other professionals and agencies, including oversight from social care colleagues.
5. Develop and coordinate the delivery and ongoing review of early help family support plans with professionals and agencies within agreed timescales.
6. Carry out home visits and outreach work targeting the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and complex families, including those in the social care system, working flexibly and hands-on.
7. Pro-actively engage and build effective working relationships with a range of agencies to support vulnerable families, build resilience and deliver sustainable change.
8. Work with families to identify and develop support networks across their wider family and friends network.
9. Undertake individual and group supervision for Family Support Workers and other relevant staff across the Early Help Hubs, ensuring caseloads are well managed and case files up to date, and provide cover for the Team Manager as required.
10. Contribute to the development of effective communication and development systems across the Early Help Hubs through supervision, team meetings and self-evaluation activities.
11. Coordinate and provide a high-quality advocacy service and family group conferencing representing the views of children, young people, families and carers.
12. Deliver relevant training and development opportunities for families and/or professionals such as targeted parenting support programmes.
13. Share information within the Data Sharing Protocols with appropriate agencies to address issues such as anti-social behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse or domestic violence, and to share under relevant legislation where safeguarding or criminal activity is suspected.
14. Facilitate or attend core group/review meetings and statutory meetings to support parents and safeguard children and young people.
15. Maintain confidential records, write reports and letters, undertake evaluations to develop evidence of best practice, and disseminate the Priority Families programme.
16. Lead ongoing active monitoring and evaluation of early help services to ensure outcomes are achieved, and contribute to the Self Evaluation (SEF).
17. Act as a witness in legal proceedings concerning children and young people under supervision.
18. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and vulnerable adult policies and practices, and pursue continuous professional development.
19. Adhere to Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Council’s Corporate HS policy, recognising personal responsibility for own health and safety.


Compensation

Salary: £32,597.00 – £35,412.00.
