Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our Shropshire Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT). We provide a community service across Shropshire. We are a multidisciplinary team providing specialist services to adults with learning disabilities who also require Physiotherapy and cannot access mainstream services.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and delivering a high-quality Physiotherapy service, and able to work creatively, embracing MPFT Trust values. We operate blended/hybrid working between base and home, and every member of staff receives a laptop, work mobile phone and additional equipment to work from home (e.g. chair, large screen).

Responsibilities

* Lead a specialist Physiotherapy Service for adults with complex learning disabilities, including those with physical disabilities and autism; undertake clinical diagnoses, assessments and interventions for communication and swallowing difficulties
* Deliver a high standard of care using a holistic, person-centred approach, and provide clinical leadership, teaching and supervision to team members
* Be an autonomous practitioner with a small mixed clinical caseload, working without direct supervision within a multidisciplinary team
* Support less experienced staff, students and colleagues to deliver the Trust contracted services
* Provide expert advice on Physiotherapy for adults with learning disabilities; signposting and giving guidance to health and social care professionals, clients, carers and relatives
* Assist and deputise for the Allied Health Professional Lead in relation to Physiotherapy clinical and professional issues
* Contribute to continuous service improvement and participate in local and regional developments


Requirements and Qualities

* Qualified Physiotherapist with current registration and eligibility to practice
* Experience or interest in learning disability and complex care needs
* Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership and supervision
* Excellent communication, teaching and advisory skills
* Commitment to person-centred care and equity in access to services
