About the Role
Newbery is entering an exciting period of growth. In addition to our core offering of handcrafted bats and cricket softs, the company is making bold moves into teamwear/ clothing and footwear. Our emergence as a globally recognised cricket ball brand has unlocked opportunities to offer a full equipment package to governing bodies, leagues, clubs, and schools across the UK and around the world.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Sales to lead a small, agile team to develop a sales strategy across local, regional, and international markets. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting Newbery’s ambitious vision to scale the business over the next five years.
This is a role for a dynamic team player with an excellent understanding of end-to-end sales, who can align closely with operational teams and supply chains to ensure we deliver quality and reliability at every level
Purpose of the Role:
The Head of Sales will lead the development and execution of a high-impact sales strategy, driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships and market expansion. This role will ensure strong alignment between sales, operations, and customer needs to support Newbery’s next phase of commercial growth.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Reports to: COO
* Line management responsibility of Sales Manager.
* This is a hybrid role based out of our HQ in Lancing, West Sussex.
* Occasional weekend work is expected, including supporting events, client meetings, and covering our showroom.
* Develop and implement a multi-channel sales strategy across B2B sectors.
* Drive growth in existing markets while identifying and penetrating new ones.
* Build and manage a high-performing sales team, fostering a results-driven and collaborative culture.
* Develop partnerships with cricket leagues, schools, clubs, and governing bodies.
* Set ambitious but achievable sales targets and KPIs in alignment with company goals.
* Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure timely delivery and seamless customer experiences.
* Represent the brand at key trade events, exhibitions, and client meetings.
* Provide regular sales forecasts, reporting, and insight at senior leadership meetings.
* Collaborate with marketing to align sales campaigns with product launches and promotional periods.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Knowledge
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Willingness and eligibility to travel internationally (including the UK, Europe, India, and the USA).
* Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
* Track record of delivering growth in a competitive product-based industry.
* Experience managing both direct sales and channel partners/distributors.
* Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
* Strong understanding of supply chains and operational collaboration.
* High levels of organisation, attention to detail, and accountability.
* Confident communicator with the ability to represent the brand at all levels.
* Passion or interest in cricket is advantageous but not essential.
Remuneration
* Base Salary: £30,000 – £40,000pa (depending on experience)
