A rare, full-time, permanent vacancy (see shift details below) has arisen within our Catering Department.
As Head Chef you would work closely with the Manager and Deputy, taking charge of the Catering team, to deliver a needs-led service, preparing and cooking of well presented meals using fresh ingredients incorporating client choice,
Experience in a similar role is essential and candidates should have a good knowledge of catering practices. Full induction and orientation training will be provided. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs of an elderly client group, of person-centred care, care home compliance and sound health and safety practices. They will be a good communicator and able to lead and work as part of a team.
Rotas are usually repeating and organised around 8 weeks in advance to facilitate the planning of home life and commitments.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
* Maintaining the catering team ensuring positive staff attitude and team spirit
* Providing hands on cooking including preparation and service of food using seasonal, fresh ingredients and working within the financial parameters of the contract
* Day to day responsibilities for all catering services
* Continuously training and developing staff skills
* Maintaining all records in line with legislation and company policy
* Ensuring compliance at all times, with legal requirements such as Health & Safety at work, Environmental Health, CQC, accident reporting and first aid
* Completion of the catering teams rotas
* Establishing a positive working relationship
* Menus within the care home
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships both with company individuals at all levels, residents and visitors.

* Knowledge and experience of working within a care home is an advantage.
* Knowledge of special diets, particularly related to elderly adults
* Have a passion to continually improving our service, seeking customer feedback from our residents, visitors and care teams within the home.
* Experience in training and developing new and existing members of the team
* Experience and knowledge on Environmental Heath and CQC requirements
The Successful applicant will require an Enhanced DBS the cost will be met by the applicant (currently £54)
All new starters are required to undertake an induction which includes relevant training and familiarisation to company policies and procedures.
