Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - Milton Keynes - Education and Training
We are seeking an aspiring Youth Justice Worker for a specialist provision in Milton Keynes, supporting children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy at every opportunity. The school adopts a non-punitive approach, using manual handling training only when necessary.
A practical trial day will be arranged to assess suitability. Immediate start is preferred; candidates with a notice period or finishing university soon are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities include making a positive impact on students' lives, ensuring their safety, and demonstrating the value of education. Comprehensive SEN and safeguarding training will be provided, including MAPA training.
The role involves working with secondary-aged students (7-19) with EHCPs, including Autism, OCD, social anxiety, and verbal/non-verbal children. The work combines physical activity with pragmatic academic support, tailored to each child's needs.
Expect some challenging behaviors, which are part of supporting society's most vulnerable children. The school offers excellent training and support systems.
You will be involved in introducing various therapies and holistic approaches, with progress measured as small successes. The role requires understanding diverse cognitive abilities and employing positive engagement strategies, including talking therapies and fostering independence, especially in assisted living contexts.
