Role Purpose To support and work within the Historic Environment team, providing heritage consultancy services and advice to internal and external clients. The role involves delivering a range of tasks with limited supervision while working towards professional qualification. Key Activities Work with the Historic Environment team to deliver services across a variety of sites and projects, including writing Heritage Impact Assessments, undertaking historic building recording, undertaking built heritage archaeology and general day to day advice to clients and external contractors on working in and around heritage assets. Provide technical input in the form of desk-based assessments and assist with drafting heritage chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments. Contribute to project development and design proposals, including master planning and construction methodology. Take responsibility for small schemes with limited supervision, ensuring budgets, deadlines, and objectives are met, and proactively progressing work while seeking guidance when needed. Support the wider Environmental and Planning team with ad hoc project assistance and contribute to business development by reinforcing company processes and identifying opportunities for cross-selling services. Carry out work in compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements. Maintain accurate records including timesheets, expenses, and project documentation to support client updates and billing. Engage in CPD activities, maintain an up-to-date professional development record, and take responsibility for progress toward professional accreditation. Support the development of junior colleagues. Participate in company groups, initiatives, events, and socials, promoting DM's values and a positive workplace culture. Key Requirements Qualifications & Knowledge Degree in Archaeology, Heritage, Conservation, Historic Environment, Building Surveying, Architecture, Art History, or a similar built heritage related discipline. Understanding of UK planning policy and guidance relating to the historic built environment. Awareness of archaeological fieldwork methods, heritage assessment processes, and the role of Environmental Impact Assessments. Skills & Experience Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate reports. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision. Ability to analyse information, use initiative, and contribute to problem-solving. Comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engaging professionally with clients and contractors. Technical & Digital Skills Competent user of Microsoft Office suite. Willingness to learn and use other relevant digital tools. Ability to maintain accurate project records and documentation. Other Requirements Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK and Ireland when required.
