Location: Reading, West Berkshire, Hybrid working
We are seeking a Principal Procurement Manager to lead procurement strategy development, including category management, supplier selection, and contract negotiation.
Key accountabilities:
* Develop and implement strategic procurement plans
* Drive cost savings initiatives, identify opportunities for process improvement, and optimise procurement practices
* Provide leadership and guidance to the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to identify and evaluate potential vendors, assess their capabilities, and negotiate favourable terms and pricing
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between procurement strategies and business requirements.
* Develop and implement vendor management strategies to optimise supplier relationships and drive value for the company.
Key requirements:
* Knowledge Public sector procurement regulation and experience of applying these to contracts and procurements
* An understanding of, and experience in procuring across various categories
* An understanding of and experience in managing contracts ideally NEC 4
* Knowledge of and experience in using Crown Commercial Service procurement frameworks
* Experience in liaising with a broad range of government stakeholders, and their suppliers
* Experience in delivering high value procurements.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people.
* Proven experience in procurement leadership
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
* Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems, E-procurement systems advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
* Experience of the Managing the exemption process from procurement regulations (desirable).
