Are you a nurse or allied health professional with an accredited MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, or have you completed the Centre for Advancing Practice portfolio route to Advanced Clinical Practice? There is also an opportunity for a trainee to complete their MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The Blandford and Shaftesbury Adult Community Mental Health Teams are looking for two Advanced Clinical Practitioners/trainees to join their teams.
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner/Trainee, you will be dynamic and highly motivated, with excellent assessment, risk management, and care formulation skills. Experience working with individuals experiencing significant mental health issues in a multidisciplinary setting is essential. High communication skills, clinical decision-making, and understanding of MHA, MCA, and safeguarding legislation are required. You will also prescribe, provide senior clinical support to the team, and triage referrals.
These are full-time positions, working Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed. You will be based in either the Blandford or Shaftesbury Community Mental Health Teams, depending on your preference, which can be discussed at interview.
We welcome informal visits and discussions about the role. Please contact Leanne Ballantyne, Integrated Community Mental Health Manager, at leanne.ballantyne1@nhs.net. You will undertake assessments, nurse reviews, and manage a small group of patients' care. Supporting carers and signposting for ongoing support are also part of the role. As a trainee, you will receive full support from the organisation and the North Dorset community mental health teams to complete your training.
You will have a job plan to ensure work across the four pillars of advanced practice, with protected time for supporting professional activities. Collaboration with other Community Mental Health Teams, social care, and agencies will benefit patients.
You will lead change, monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audits, research, and education. You will plan and manage complete episodes of care, undertake independent assessments, consider pharmacological aspects, and make complex clinical decisions regarding patient management and outcomes.
Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants subscribing to the DBS update service can present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
