CT/General Radiographer

The Diagnostic Imaging service based across 2 sites, Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth, provides an essential service to the Trust and includes 4 GE CT scanners (3 Revolutions & 1 Rev Evo).
We are seeking experienced Band 7 CT/General Radiographers, with minimum of 2 years cross sectional experience to join our team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, we have vacancies on both sites.
Applicants should be/have:

You will be supporting the Cross Site Modality Leads in:

8. Regularly monitor and evaluate the service delivery with particular regard to image quality and patient waiting times in line with Government and Trust targets.

This role will give the individual the opportunity to build on and extend their clinical expertise and also develop management, training and leadership skills. Education and training are key elements of the department and therefore role extension and further learning is encouraged. Job Summary:
20. To be responsible for carrying out specialised radiographic imaging to a high standard and in a professional manner, working to departmental guidelines whilst being accountable for own actions.
21. To deputise for Superintendent Radiographers.
22. The post holder will be required to carry out radiographic duties on a diverse patient population.
23. To carry out all responsibilities with regard to Trust Policies including Data Protection and Equal Opportunities

30. To independently undertake diagnostic radiology procedures maintaining high professional standards of technical competence and ensuring standards of essence of care at all times.
31. To undertake a full range of imaging procedures to maintain knowledge and be fully aware of the safety aspects and hazards, and related emergency procedures.
32. To assess and adapt techniques and protocols following assessment for each procedure.
33. To take responsibility for the care of the patient whilst undertaking the procedure. This includes manual handling.

35. To supervise and provide clinical assistance to radiographers, assistant practitioners and students

37. To monitor and evaluate Ionising Radiation Regulations 99 and IR(ME)R 2000 and ensure patients procedures are performed with due consideration of these regulations.
38. To comply with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
39. To ensure patient confidentiality is observed at all times and observe the requirements of the data protection act and freedom of information act.
40. To participate in the departments out of hours on-call.
41. To observe all local rules and the Trusts employment policies and procedures.
42. To undertake regular QA tests to identify and report equipment faults or inaccuracies
43. Ensure the safe use of specialist radiology equipment.
44. To report equipment failures immediately.
45. To liaise with equipment support centres to arrange services and emergency call out for general and specialist x-ray equipment
46. To assist in the evaluation and procurement process for new equipment.

48. To participate in the induction and training of new staff, assistant practitioners and student radiographers.
49. To assist in the training of radiographers and medical staff in specialist areas

50. To provide assistance and be actively involved in departmental projects and audits
51. To be actively involved in departmental quality groups and pro-active in the sharing of good practice.
52. To give lectures and presentations within the Trust and to outside organisations on areas of special interest.
