Anderson Knight are delighted to be supporting an established and highly respected transport and services organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial control and reporting across a multi-brand operation with revenues in excess of £60m per annum.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a senior hands-on role with responsibility for statutory reporting, monthly management accounts, audit, VAT, cashflow and team leadership. The position offers excellent exposure to group finance, senior stakeholders and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Full ownership of monthly P&L reporting and period-end close
* Preparation of annual statutory accounts in line with group reporting deadlines
* Balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings
* Leading and coordinating the annual external audit
* Ensuring compliance with IFRS and relevant accounting regulations
* Oversight of revenue recognition and cost accounting, including liaison with public sector bodies for concessionary revenue
* Cashflow management and coordination of payment runs
* Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
* Driving continuous improvement in financial controls, processes and systems
* Providing ad hoc financial analysis to senior management and group finance
* Line management and development of two finance team members
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
* Fully qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
* Strong technical accounting knowledge with practical application experience
* Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines
* A proactive, organised and methodical approach to workload management
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Experience with management reporting and financial analysis
* People management experience, with a collaborative leadership style
* Experience using accounting systems (Oracle or SAP advantageous, but not essential)
Working Pattern
* 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
* Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the Glasgow office
