Job Title: Veterinary Inspector

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking motivated and enthusiastic veterinarians to join our veterinary team of over 150 vets in the Veterinary Service Animal Health Group (VSAHG). Further appointments may be made from this competition for similar roles requiring the same eligibility criteria.

The main purpose of the Veterinary Inspector role includes implementing policies related to:
* Epizootic diseases (e.g., highly pathogenic avian influenza)
* Enzootic diseases (e.g., bovine tuberculosis)
* Animal welfare
* Public health
* Import controls
* International trade
* Zoonotic diseases (e.g., salmonella)
Key objectives include:
* Preventing, detecting, and eradicating epizootic diseases
* Controlling and eradicating enzootic diseases
* Promoting animal welfare standards
* Protecting public health and ensuring food safety of animal products (on behalf of the Food Standards Agency)
* Delivering import controls on animals and animal products
* Facilitating international trade through export health controls and certification
* Preventing, detecting, and controlling zoonotic diseases
