Burgess Road Surgery is a close-knit GP practice in Southampton, and we have an exciting opening for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. This part-time position is approximately 18 hours per week, and we are flexible about how those hours are arranged.
Main duties of the job
We're looking for an NMC-registered Practice Nurse:
* Help with Chronic Disease Clinics, support patients with long-term conditions
* Interest in Respiratory & Diabetes Care
* Provide General Treatment Room Care, carry out some of the usual practice nurse duties.

Job summary
The role of a Practice Nurse in primary care involves delivering a wide range of clinical services that support patient health and well-being. Practice Nurses work closely with GPs, Nursing Associates, and Healthcare Assistants to provide preventative care, manage long-term conditions, and deliver essential health services to patients of all ages.

Practice Nurses enhance patient care, reduce GP workload, and contribute significantly to the prevention and early detection of health conditions. Their expertise in chronic disease management, cervical screening, and immunisations ensures patients receive safe, effective, and proactive care within the community.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
* Chronic Disease Management: Conduct annual reviews for patients with diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease; perform blood pressure monitoring, FENO, and spirometry; offer lifestyle advice; support self-management of conditions.
* Cervical Screening: Perform cervical smear tests, provide patient education, ensure accurate record-keeping and referrals.
* Child Immunisations: Administer routine childhood vaccinations.
* Other Responsibilities: Wound care & dressings, contraception & sexual health guidance, health promotion & screening, supporting minor procedures.
