This role will focus on: As an apprentice aligned to the machine shop function you will be learning and developing the skills required to set, run, program, and maintain CNC machine tools. You will be given the opportunity to gain the necessary skills to be able to operate different machine types including Milling and Turning centers. During your apprenticeship you will be expected to support multiple machines and eventually choose a specialiastion or become a multiskilled CNC setter operator. As an apprentice you will be mentored by our CNC technicians who will pass on their specialist knowledge of machining in support of your studies. You will be responsible for your own quality, safety and the safety of others. What you’ll be doing Developing the skills needed to set and operate CNC machines. Lean about cutting tools and the different uses, geometries, and grades. Develop a safety-first culture when operating machines understanding risk and COSHH. Lean how to program and prove out components including work holding and fixturing. Develop the skills required to use and understand different inspection equipment. Learn about continuous improvement, lean and 5S. Develop the ability to conduct non-conformance investigations including Root Cause analysis and Corrective Actions. Good grades in mathematics and English. A willingness to learn. Good communication skills. The ability to commit to three years of training.
