We’re working exclusively with a growing, well-established business based in Uckfield who are looking to appoint a hands-on Finance Manager.
This role is ideal for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys being close to the numbers and wants to grow into a Financial Controller position as the business continues to develop.
You will oversee everything from day-to-day accounting to strategic financial reporting, purchasing, and import activities, while becoming a key voice in supporting commercial decisions. If you thrive in a hands-on, varied role where no two days look the same, this is a fantastic chance to make a real impact within a successful, design-led business.
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm
Start: ASAP
What will your working week be like?
* Lead daily accounting operations including invoicing, credit control, supplier payments, and query resolution.
* Maintain robust financial controls through accurate reconciliations, reporting, and cashflow forecasting.
* Produce timely, high-quality Management Accounts and ensure all statutory returns (such as VAT) are submitted on schedule.
* Oversee and optimise the Sage 200 accounting system.
* Manage import documentation and purchasing activities, including raising POs and liaising closely with international suppliers.
* Take the lead on annual stocktakes, identifying and reporting discrepancies.
* Play a key role in supporting business improvements, upholding company standards, and maintaining strong compliance and health & safety procedures.
Do you have the required skills & experience?
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
* Accounting qualifications, Sage 200 knowledge, and experience with Microsoft Server/remote sessions (Desirable).
* Friendly, approachable, and motivated, with the confidence to use your initiative.
* Skilled at identifying issues, proposing solutions, and making sound judgments.
* A strong team player who contributes positively to a collaborative environment.
* Clear, proactive communication skills and a natural ability to ask the right questions.
* Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable navigating change.
* Commercially aware with a keen eye for opportunities to support business growth.
* Exceptionally organised with strong time-management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
