The successful candidate will work as part of a strong dedicated team across both venues. Duties will include working on many major touring productions across all disciplines of technical theatre. At all times, the role must have a can-do attitude and act as an ambassador for the company and venues. About Landmark Theatres
Landmark Theatres is a portfolio of regional venues in North Devon and Peterborough, receiving a wide variety of arts and cultural opportunities for local communities. This includes major touring productions, high-profile live music acts, big-name stand-up comedy, dance, superb theatre and new writing. We also produce high-quality Musicals, Drama and Family productions including our annual family Pantomime in Peterborough. Our venues consist of: Queen Theatre, Barnstaple (650 seats), Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe (450 seats), the New Theatre Peterborough (1,100 seats) and the Key Theatre Peterborough (112 & 360 seats).
We are the largest new theatre entrant to Arts Council England's National Portfolio (23-26) and are working with a number of high-quality partners such as Birmingham Royal Ballet, The National Theatre and Paines Plough.
We receive an annual grant of £1 million a year for the current three-year funding cycle from 2023-24 to 2025-26 to ensure that Landmark Theatres can deliver an ambitious artistic mission, driving quality work, inspiring and developing new talent for and with the audience we serve across North Devon and Peterborough.
This funding is a great vote of confidence in our potential to deliver to areas previously underinvested in culturally. We are now building a new producing theatre organisation outside London - for the first time in a generation. Hours of Work: Weekday, evening and weekend work required as per our performance times.
Salary: £12.71 per hour, BECTU get outs on certain performances paid at the prevailing rate.
Start Date: As soon as possible
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Casual Technician will report directly to the Senior Technician or Technical Manager. Duties will predominantly include working on fit-ups, shows and get-outs, working under the supervision of the in-house team. The role can be physically demanding and include some antisocial hours. Key Responsibilities Purpose & Responsibilities of the Role: The following section is intended to list the key competencies and responsibilities of the role but is not intended to be exhaustive. It is anticipated that additional responsibilities will develop over time, and that the scope of the role may be expanded by agreement with the Technical Manager. To work with the Technical Manager & Technical Department to ensure that the technical provision of both The New and Key Theatres are delivered in a professional manner and to a high standard.
1. To work within the technical team on the safe provision of all technical aspects relating to productions at Landmark Venues, or productions, this includes working fit-ups, get-outs, show calls and production periods as scheduled.
2. When required, to assist with the day-to-day installation and operation of all lighting, sound, rigging, staging AV, at The New and Key Theatres used for performance and production periods. To be proficient in the use of all in house systems and equipment. 3. To assist the Technical Department in implementing and inputting to working practices and procedures,
4. To assist in ongoing planned maintenance for all setting, rigging, lighting, sound, and AV equipment, to fault find and carry out end user maintenance on these items and to ensue non-user serviceable faults are reported quickly and correctly to the Technical Manager
5. To assist the Technical Department with the general upkeep to the fabric, fixtures and fittings of the auditorium, backstage and Front of House areas
6. To comply, work within, where applicable to the guidelines of the theatre's license and working practices, as identified by the Technical Manager and, especially regarding Health and Safety issues, including:
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
Work at height regulations Provision and use of work equipment regulations Electricity at work regulations Noise at work regulations
The understanding and implementation of the evacuation procedure and fire escape routes
Hygiene and safety of staff and public areas, good housekeeping in all staff areas 8. Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Technical Manager.

Experience of working in a Technical Theatre Environment
