Role: Lead Platform & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Technical Lead)
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000
Location: UK (Hybrid – 1 day per month in London)

This is a business going through a major platform evolution, with a strong focus on sustainability, performance and long-term engineering quality. They are building out modern cloud infrastructure and empowering teams to deliver reliably at scale.
As a Technical Lead in the platform and cloud infrastructure space, you will play a key role in shaping the platform's direction. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will influence architecture, define best practices, and guide teams, while staying close to engineering.
You will be working across multiple teams to improve reliability, scalability and developer experience, helping to define how the platform evolves as the organisation continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Shaping and evolving the platform architecture across a modern, distributed environment
* Designing and delivering scalable, secure and reliable infrastructure
* Driving improvements in observability, reliability and platform performance
* Leading on Kubernetes and container platform best practices
* Building and improving CI/CD, GitOps and infrastructure as code capabilities
* Supporting incident management, resilience and disaster recovery practices
* Collaborating with engineers to improve developer experience and platform adoption
* Driving cost optimisation and efficient cloud usage
* Mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams
Tech Environment
* GCP (primary), with exposure to AWS or Azure
* Kubernetes and containerised workloads
* Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
* CI/CD pipelines, GitOps and automation tooling
* Modern observability tooling and monitoring practices
* Distributed systems at scale
About You
* Strong background in Platform Engineering, SRE or Cloud Infrastructure
* Experience operating as a senior or technical lead, influencing architecture and decisions
* Deep hands-on experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes
* Strong understanding of reliability, scalability and observability principles
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code and modern deployment practices
* Comfortable working across teams and influencing without direct authority
* Passionate about building platforms that enable engineering teams to move faster
* Enjoy mentoring and contributing to a strong engineering culture
