Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Direct Sales Representative to lead AMI’s direct sales efforts in the UK. This role will be responsible for the full sales cycle across the entire AMI product portfolio, including chemisorption systems, gas sorption analyzers, gas pycnometers, thermal analysis instruments (DSC, TGA, STA, TMA), and complementary technologies.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong technical sales experience in analytical instrumentation, a passion for building customer relationships, and the ability to work independently in a competitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a direct sales strategy to grow AMI’s customer base in the UK across academic, industrial, and government sectors.
* Manage the full sales process: lead generation, customer visits, product demonstrations, quotations, contract negotiation, and closing.
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
* Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities in material characterization, catalysis, adsorption, and thermal analysis markets.
* Provide in-depth product presentations and application support, including coordination of technical demonstrations and virtual trainings.
* Collaborate closely with AMI’s application scientists, service teams, and global management to deliver best-in-class customer solutions.
* Attend industry conferences, exhibitions, and trade shows to promote AMI’s brand and solutions.
* Maintain accurate records of sales activity, forecasts, and customer interactions within AMI’s CRM system.
* Provide market intelligence and competitive feedback to support AMI’s strategic growth plans.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of direct sales experience in analytical instrumentation or a closely related technical field.
* Strong knowledge of material characterization techniques such as chemisorption, physisorption, BET, or thermal analysis is highly preferred.
* Proven ability to generate leads, manage complex sales cycles, and close deals.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and travel throughout the UK (and occasionally to Europe, China, and the USA for training or meetings).
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
* Familiarity with CRM software and a structured sales process.
