A Career with Purpose

Are you looking for a fulfilling career where you can make a real difference in a young person's life every day?

Danecourt is a special school dedicated to providing exceptional education and care for children with complex and diverse needs. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team.

In this vital role, you'll provide essential medical and personal care to our students, ensuring their well-being and enabling them to thrive in a safe and supportive environment. This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to become a key part of our school community and to help our students reach their full potential.

What you'll do:

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in our school community. Your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting pupils with medical conditions so they can fully access learning and enrichment opportunities.
* Administering medicine and providing personal care, feeding, and toileting support where required.
* Managing and maintaining pupils' healthcare plans, ensuring training and documentation are always up to date.
* Monitoring pupil wellbeing, observing and reporting any changes to senior staff.
* Coordinating First Aid across the school, ensuring resources and records are maintained.
* Building positive relationships with parents, carers, and external health professionals.
* Providing pastoral care, reassurance, and support for pupils who are ill, upset, or injured.
* Ensuring safe and inclusive participation in school trips, swimming lessons, clubs, and wider opportunities.
* Contributing to safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies to uphold the highest standards of care

Who You Are:

We are looking for someone who is:

* Caring, empathetic, and committed to supporting children's health and wellbeing
* Experienced in a healthcare, school, or caregiving setting (experience with SEND children is desirable).
* Skilled at working as part of a team and building trust with families and professionals.
* Confident in managing sensitive medical situations calmly and professionally.
* Organised, proactive, and willing to undertake training to meet pupils' medical needs.
* Ideally holds a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care), though full training will be provided.

What We Offer

Danecourt offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where support staff are valued as key members of the team. As part of the Maritime Academy Trust, we offer meaningful career opportunities, collaborative working, and the chance to help pupils with SEND thrive.

Here's what you can expect:

* A supportive, team-based culture, where collaboration is key across classrooms and satellite provisions
* Meaningful Impact, unlike a traditional healthcare role, being part of the Danecourt team means directly supporting children's health needs within a school setting. You'll see the immediate difference your care makes every day — whether it's enabling a child to join a lesson, take part in a trip, or simply feel safe and supported at school.
* Work-Life Balance role, with a term time only role you'll benefit from the same school holiday schedule, giving you more time to focus on your well-being and enjoy a healthy work-life balance
* Ongoing CPD and training tailored to your role and future career goals
* Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and employee wellbeing support
* Join a school that is proud to be the Winner of the Primary Special School Provision category at the Medway Parents and Carers Forum SEND Awards.
