Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer - Temporary Works to work with Murphy Applied Engineering in Scotland.
Our engineering teams represent a multi-disciplined range of skills, adding value across sectors, and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation, and design to deliver sustainable and economical solutions.
In this role, you will provide safe, economic, and constructible solutions within project timeframes for various projects including Lower Thames Crossing, Hackney Waltham Cross Uprating Project (HWUP), Uxbridge Moor, Yorkshire Green, and the ASTI projects.
A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Design Engineer - Temporary Works
* Act as the Project Design Engineer when appointed by the Principal Engineer, serving as the main contact between project teams and design engineers.
* Have a sound knowledge of client requirements, specifications, design codes, and industry standards.
* Manage projects from a commercial, programmatic, and document control perspective.
* Serve as the Design Approved Person, overseeing designs produced by junior engineers.
* Represent the MAE team in project meetings.
* Undertake site visits and produce project-wide design risk assessments.
* Manage the design work of staff and external designers.
* Mentor junior staff members.

* HND/Bachelor/Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Chartered or working towards Chartership with ICE or IStructE
* Experience managing projects as a design engineer
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
* Good communication skills and relationship-building abilities
* Open-minded approach to solving engineering challenges
* Keen to visit sites and offices across the country
