Job Description
Why Rolls-Royce?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer – Services to join Rolls-Royce Submarines.
We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.
You will work as part of a team consisting of mechanical, systems, and EC&I engineers, utilizing support from other functions around the Submarines Business as and when required. Components and/or systems delivered to the dockyard are generally required to support the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) during maintenance periods.
We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits, including bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
Our hybrid working model allows flexibility to balance time between the office, home, or other remote locations, with an expected attendance of about three days per week for collaboration and specific activities.
What you will be doing
* Undertake or support all design tasks from scoping and initial design to safety documentation and supporting procurement through manufacture, testing, and supply of components.
* Produce technical reports and operating manuals to a high standard.
* Ensure delivery aligns with cost, specifications, and schedule.
* Collaborate with project engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed plans and estimates to meet project objectives.
Who we’re looking for
At Rolls-Royce, we embrace agility, boldness, collaboration, and simplicity—principles that define our values and behaviors.
* Experience as a Project or Technical Coordinator in a service, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
* Design experience in electrical controls and instrumentation, with a good understanding of electrical design principles.
* Knowledge of the complete design process from scoping to delivery.
* A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience related to submarine NSRP design is preferred.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion, believing that different backgrounds and perspectives enhance our success. We support our employees with a culture of respect and opportunity for growth.
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you must hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats. Rolls-Royce will assist with the clearance process if needed.
