Job Overview
We are currently looking to recruit a Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in Epilepsy to Queen Marys Hospital for Children, St Helier Hospital, to help deliver our service in the boroughs of Merton and Sutton. This post is a replacement post and will be based at St Helier hospital.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the acute General Paediatric team during working hours to provide routine day to day acute paediatric services. We currently offer our patients a wide range of acute paediatric and community services including Epilepsy which this post is expected to contribute to.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the team continue to deliver a high quality service and will be involved in strategic planning of services with our local partners. The post holder will join a team of 13 Acute Paediatric Consultants and 2 Associate Specialists.
Person Specification Qualifications And Training Essential Criteria
* Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
* Entry onto the Specialist Register for GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT
* Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e. MRCPH or equivalent
* APLS and NLS provider
Desirable criteria
* MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research
* APLS instructor
Clinical Experience Essential criteria
* High standard of Training, clinical skills and expertise in the Acute General Paediatrics and Special interest in Epilepsy
* Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on call rota for the specialty
* Safeguarding level 3 training
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of further training and experience in Childhood Epilepsy
* Evidence of interest in Neurodisability
Communication Essential criteria
* Strong communication skills
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
* Teaching experience
Desirable criteria
* Experience of supervising junior doctors
* Experience of teaching Lay groups and other staff groups
* Ability to supervise postgraduate research
