Use electronic imager to confirm patient positioning at the start of radiotherapy course and during treatment as part of QA protocol. Calculate the accuracy of patient position and use clinical judgment to adjust positioning, taking into account the contour of patients, progression, and regression of tumour. In case of discrepancies and inability to treat the patient, refer for changes in calculation or back to CT/planning for re-planning.
Ensure that prior to each treatment, an expert assessment is provided to determine whether each patient is fit for treatment, and take appropriate action if unfit by referral to a clinician. Make judgments when specialty support is required from other disciplines due to the nature of the patient's problems, and refer to dieticians and Macmillan team as needed.
Arrange for blood/urine sampling and analyze results before treatment. Responsible for continuing or suspending patients' treatment depending on the results. Inform patients of highly sensitive results and refer to a clinician if treatment is suspended.
