Senior Residential Practitioner Location: Bradford Client: Bradford Metropolitan District Council / Bradford Children and Families Trust Contract Type: Temporary (3 months) Hours: Full time (37 hours per week) Salary: £17.85 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role: Bradford Children and Families Trust has been commissioned by Bradford Council to deliver services for children, families, and young people. As a Senior Residential Practitioner, you will lead care provision in children’s homes, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards. You will support children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse, helping them develop in a psychologically secure environment. Key Responsibilities Lead care provision under the guidance of the Registered and Deputy Manager. Manage the home in the absence of senior managers. Supervise staff, conduct appraisals, and support professional development. Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR. Oversee case management and key working for children and young people. Conduct and review risk assessments and management plans. Administer medication safely and in accordance with policy. Respond to missing children incidents and ensure their safe return. Ensure compliance with legislation and professional standards. Support children with challenging behaviours using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Work flexibly across various settings, including overnight stays and holidays. Participate in statutory meetings and contribute to Ofsted inspections. Experience & Knowledge Minimum 3 years as a qualified Residential Practitioner in a Children’s Home. Experience supervising staff and managing tasks. Skilled in risk assessment and management. Adaptable to challenging environments. Fluent communication with the public. Skills & Competencies Compassion, empathy, and resilience. Ability to manage challenging behaviour. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Effective communication and teamwork. Physically fit to perform all duties, including interventions. Additional Requirements Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent (e.g., NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care). GCSE Grade A–C in Maths and English or equivalent. Willingness to work unsociable hours, weekends, and sleep-in duties. Subject to Warner Process and DBS check.
