This position works within the team responsible for the structuring and analysis of data, and the operation of Burford Capital's proprietary investment modelling software. The Data Analyst will join the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team, playing a key role in supporting the firm's decision-making processes through data aggregation, interpretation, and analysis. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Data Analysis Operate Burford's proprietary modelling software ensuring operational efficiency, data fidelity and accuracy of the investment valuation model. Develop new features by drafting specifications, preparing examples and testing functionality. Communicate independently to the wider Quantitative and Technology teams. Work collaboratively with a cohesive team to develop and expand internal data resources used by the Quantitative Analysis team to inform decision-making across the business. Assist in the collection, integration, and analysis of data to help provide insights into the value drivers of investments. Work closely with the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team and Underwriters to develop investment models assessing the return potential of prospective and ongoing investments. Expand and manage Burford's data quality processes for existing data sources and repositories. SKILLS DESIRED Qualifications & Experience Candidates should have an excellent academic record in finance, economics, or a STEM field. Candidates should be recent graduates or have fewer than two years of experience. Demonstrated interest/experience in analytical modeling and data analysis. Comfortable with the manipulation, validation, and presentation of large complex datasets. Strong written and spoken communicative skills to be able to summarize and present analytical results simply and concisely. High proficiency in Excel is required; familiarity with SQL and Python is preferable.
