Job Title: Specialist Teacher for the Autism/CCN (Complex Communication Needs) Team - 0.6 Role Salary: MPS/UPS SEN 1-2 SEN allowance dependent on relevant experience and/or Masters level autism qualifications 19.5 Hours per Week Location: Fieldworker and Pershore Civic Centre Permanent Are you an inspiring and enthusiastic teacher? Do you have the knowledge and skills to join our team of dedicated and well-respected specialist teachers? Do you have a detailed knowledge of autism and a curiosity to find out more? Are you committed to improving the outcomes of all autistic learners? Are you able to support schools to improve their provision? Due to an increase in capacity, we have an exciting and rare opportunity to recruit an exceptional teacher to the team as Specialist Teacher for Autism/CCN on a 0.6 basis. Specialist Teachers focus upon the effective delivery of child-centred, evidence-based practical advice that enhances educational provision in order to improve outcomes for children and young people. Specialist Teachers work at individual and whole-school levels. We are looking for someone with relevant experience and qualifications to join our friendly and supportive team and help us develop effective partnership working across Worcestershire to build high quality provision for autistic children and young people (and those with similar presentations). You will manage a multi-age caseload within Worcestershire, providing bespoke assessments and support as well as contributing to the diagnostic pathway and statutory work for the Local Authority. You will build and maintain professional relationships with schools and partners to develop their practice and to contribute to the wider strategic plan of Worcestershire County Council. The role involves conducting assessments in a range of settings, including schools, colleges, nurseries and homes. Report writing can be carried out in the office base or from home. You will be supported through a careful induction process to help you thrive in the position. The Autism/CCN is experienced and welcoming and are keen to support new members. Team members are able to meet virtually regularly for support and co-working with colleagues and the whole team meet in person at least monthly to collaborate. You will be a passionate advocate for the children and young people of Worcestershire and confident in delivering training to a wide range of audiences. You will be able to engage in constructively critical conversations with settings in order to identify and effect change. You will use your up-to-date theoretical knowledge of autism and relevant practice in your role. Our team is situated in the Inclusion Support Services Team of Worcestershire County Council. Closing date: 17/05/2026 Interviews for shortlisted candidates: W/C 18th May 2026 For an informal discussion please contact Gemma Halstead at autism@ worcestershire.gov.uk Attached documents Specialist Teaching Service JDPS May 2026.pdf
