Offer description

An exciting opportunity is available for a registered nurse to join the Haematology / Oncology Day Unit VHK. The day unit operates Monday to Friday 0800-1900. Shift pattern will be discussed at interview. The successful applicant will participate in the safe delivery and planning of systemic anti-cancer therapy and supportive care to individuals with malignant and non-malignant Haematology and Oncology disorders. At our core we are committed to delivering a high standard of care to our patients in Fife, using reflective and integrated practice whilst applying our evidenced based knowledge to achieve the best care possible for our patients undergoing treatment. We participate in delivering established treatment pathways alongside clinical trials, which allows for an exciting and forward thinking learning environment. We are committed to regular professional development and in-service training for personal and professional development. You should have post registration experience within an acute setting and possess excellent communication skills. The ability to perform venepuncture and cannulation and completion of level one blood transfusion training is essential but could be learned once in post. Applicants should also have a genuine desire to work in this area of nursing, which covers many Haematological conditions and oncology specialties. Completion of infusional and bolus SACT training is desirable but not essential as training will be facilitated through the Edinburgh Cancer Centre to achieve this skill. For any informal enquires please contact Senior Charge Nurse Lorraine McConville on 01592 729935 or e-mail lorraine.mcconville2@nhs.scot or Senior Charge Nurse Stacey Waddell by e-mail at Stacey.waddell2@nhs.scot A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment. To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service. As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here. For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here. It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form. We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices. NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
