Join to apply for the Deputy Manager- The Squirrels role at Bristol City Council. Full Time, Permanent. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our residential team on a full-time contract working in a rewarding role supporting children and young people with disabilities who reside in the home full time.
The Deputy Manager will deputise for the Registered Manager (RM) in taking full responsibility for managing the home within the framework of current legislation. To ensure the delivery of a high-quality residential service for disabled children within the overall policy of the Department (as defined by the National Care Standards Commission- minimum standards for Children’s Homes). The home provides care for up to 3 children at a time with varied needs. Each child is supported as an individual and staff tailor support to each child.
The home aims to create a warm, fun, caring environment, ensures children’s voices and feelings are heard, and advocates for the children we care for.
Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Registered Manager and take full responsibility for managing the home within current legislation.
* Ensure delivery of a high-quality residential service for disabled children.
* Support and advocate for children, ensuring their voices are heard.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary service with social workers, Occupational Therapists, Education provisions, parents and carers to offer the best service.
* Be flexible to work shifts, including weekends (fortnightly), bank holidays and evenings.
Location & timetable
The home is currently located in Hengrove but will be moving to a new location in Henbury in Summer 2026.
Requirements & qualifications
* Enhanced DBS Check is required.
* Ability to work shifts, including weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
* Experience working with vulnerable children and young people, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
