Job Summary
BPAS is looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Nottingham Clinic every Wednesday.
As a treatment doctor/surgeon, you will provide safe, effective and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients. The role includes working at BPAS Nottingham with the option to provide services in other areas nationally. Candidates should currently operate between 13+6 and 24 weeks, and be keen to train and progress towards higher gestations within the legal limit.
Responsibilities
* Carry out termination of pregnancy using the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
* Complete client consultation if needed and statutory documentation.
* Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions that may affect the abortion process.
* Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients are fit for discharge from recovery or passed to the care of another on‑site doctor.
* Provide support, advice and guidance to nursing staff in the management of unexpected outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, with full General Medical Council registration and licence to practice (include GMC Pin).
* Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post.
* Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and assessment and management of complications.
* Experience of IUD/implant insertion and knowledge of sexual health issues.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to be pro‑active and flexible.

* Support a woman's right to choose abortion and alignment with BPAS values.
* Commitment to a part‑time schedule of 7.5 hours per week, every Wednesday.
* Specify current maximum gestation you are working up to and willingness to train for higher gestations.

Working Pattern
Permanent part‑time contract – 7.5 hours per week, every Wednesday.
Salary
£103,020 – £154,020 per annum pro‑rata, depending on skills and experience.
