Main Purpose of the role The Procurement Production Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies for production-related materials and services to ensure cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality, and innovation. This role partners closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to support operational and business objectives. Primary Responsibilities Develop and implement long-term category strategies aligned with business and manufacturing goals. Analyse market trends, cost drivers, and supply risks to inform sourcing decisions. Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance (cost, quality, delivery, sustainability). Lead supplier development and continuous improvement programs. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including dual sourcing and capacity planning. Support supplier innovation and value engineering initiatives. Deliver annual cost savings and productivity targets. Support should-cost modelling and cost breakdown analyses. Lead negotiations for pricing, terms, and long-term agreements. Track and report procurement KPIs and savings performance. Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams on new product introductions (NPI) and change management. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. Support sustainability, ESG, and supplier compliance initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation, contracts, and category data. Strategic thinking and commercial acumen. Strong communication and influencing skills. What skills are we looking for? To be successful in the role; you must have previous experience in a leadership/management position within Procurement, experience with ERP & MRP systems and previous experience in a manufacturing role or similar with project management experience. You will be a self-motivated, team player, with a willingness to learn and develop and willing to take ownership and accountability. You must be able to problem solve and demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
