Learning Support Assistant – SEMH
Rural Horsham, West Sussex, Full-time | Temp to Perm, Day Rate: £130–£135 | Permanent Salary: £25,500–£26,500, Driving Licence Required Due to Location. Work Available in Primary and Secondary
We’re working with a specialist school in West Sussex that supports boys aged 5 - 18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school is located in the tranquil countryside of West Sussex and offers a therapeutic and nurturing environment with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, safety, and personal development.
This role is ideal for someone who’s confident working with young people, especially those with SEN or SEMH backgrounds. If you’re calm under pressure, proactive, and are passionate about helping pupils thrive both academically and emotionally, this could be a great match for you!
Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils with complex emotional needs, helping to de-escalate challenging situations.
* Build strong, respectful relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
* Assist in lesson delivery and classroom organisation.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and provide tailored support.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience working with children or young people (ideally within SEN or SEMH settings).
* Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for helping students thrive.
* Ability to remain calm and decisive in challenging situations.
* A full UK driving licence (essential due to rural location).
