Lotus Cars Limited is the manufacturing site of Lotus in the UK.Here we produce all sportscars types such as the Emira and the Evija.To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Lead Engineer - Chassis in the Chassis/Engineering Department to join us in our manufacturing plantbased in Hethel.
Summary
The primary purpose of the role is to deliver technical solutions to project teams within the defined cost, quality and time targets.
In this role, supporting the Principal Engineers is to be expected but also to accept design ownership of individual systems with an agreed level of autonomy and accountability consistent with experience.
What You'll Do (Max 5)
* Support the department in achieving the requirements of quality systems approval both internal and external Support cost reduction, weight saving, and quality enhancement initiatives
Provide Technical Support For Vehicle Chassis Subsystems Or Components
* Design planning – resources and costs
* Preparation of concept information
* Generation of the Bill of Materials at system level including mass properties
* Support to the Project team in the generation of the Engineering Timing Release Schedule.
* Chairing of component and subsystem design reviews.
* Reporting and tracking of progress relative to the engineering timing and release schedule including the identification of the corrective actions required to ensure that technical, timing and cost targets are realised.
* Technical sign-off and release of design schemes, assembly drawings, component drawings, installation drawings and data packs including DVP’s and FMEA’s
* Providing support to the purchasing function in the selection of vendors.
* Support the Project team in the creation of the vehicle package model through leadership of the design team.
* Transmittal of engineering information to downstream users as required.
* Collation of test results, concern reports and preparation of concern resolutions.
* Represent the chassis engineering function to clients, potential clients and other areas of Lotus as required.
* Support the Chief Engineer to develop and implement engineering design processes.
* Support the Chief Engineer in generating planning and programme proposal information.
* Support the department in achieving quality systems approval
What You'll Bring (Max 5)
Degree in Mechanical or related discipline
5+ years of automotive engineering experience, ideally within chassis engineering, current model or continuous improvement roles.
Technical knowledge and experience in definition, design, and verification of components and systems, including some software familiarity.
An ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and standards.
Awareness of CAE methodologies for structural analysis.
A practical understanding of DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) and DFMEA.
Experience of DV methodologies for commodity.
Proficient experience with MS office.
Communication and presentation skills.

Additional Information
* This role will be working from our Hethel plantwithin our flexible working policy
* Frequent travel will be required to visit different entities and the Customer Care Center based in Europe. Applicants must therefore possess the ability to travel freely without restrictions
* Candidates must be eligible to work in UK without VISA sponsorship.
