Staffordshire County Council, We are looking to appoint a full time (32.5 hours) Specialist Teacher of Autism to join the Autism Inclusion Team based at The Orme Academy, Wolstanton, from 1 January 2026.
Salary: MPS/UPS - £31,650-£49,084) per annum plus SEN allowance (£2,679-£5285)
Main Responsibilities
As a Specialist Resource Teacher you will support a high quality, inclusive educational experience for Autistic children/young people. You will:
Be responsible for a high school Autism resource base, within The Orme Academy; supporting six Autistic pupils, aged 11-16, and co-ordinating a team of communication support worker colleagues.
Provide direct teaching of pupils within the resource base including delivery of elements of coursework provided by the school staff, and pupil specific mentoring.
Identify pupils requiring alternative access to the curriculum, e.g. to teach the relevant skills required and organise the provision of suitably adapted materials, including the differentiated support of pupils within their mainstream lessons.
Enhance the teaching performance of the team and staff in the school through the provision of advice, support and training in relation to their area of responsibility, to ensure that all Autistic pupils are fully included in the curriculum and the life of the school.

You'll be:
an experienced teacher, with QTS,
have extensive experience of working with Autistic children/young people in education settings and a passion for inclusion, enabling all children to flourish and grow.
experience of working with pupils with Autism in Mainstream settings
knowledge of pupils at Key Stage 3 and 4
knowledge of curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4
experience of staff managementA post graduate qualification in Autism and/or SEND is desirable, but not essential. SEN allowance is available depending on experience and qualifications.
You must be able to drive, have a driving licence with business insurance, and have daily access to a car. However, for disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required.
