Job Summary
Join our Pharmacy Team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust! We are looking for motivated individuals to join our expanding Aseptic Services team within the Cancer Services Division. The role supports the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in overseeing daily activities and aseptically preparing chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and CIVAS/OPAT medications in a controlled environment.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
* Aseptically prepare chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and CIVAS/OPAT.
* Perform specialised cleaning duties and essential environmental monitoring and quality assurance checks.
* Maintain equipment and facilities to the highest standards.
* Undertake self‑checking and ensure accuracy throughout all processes.
* Participate in the induction and training of staff in areas of responsibility.
* Issue stocks and maintain good stock control in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Contribute to the department’s continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
Desirable
* NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science.
* Accredited Dispensing Assistants Course.
Experience
Essential
* Evidence of previous work experience relevant to the position such as warehouse or stores, reception duties, etc.
* Evidence of experience within a team environment.
* Experienced in customer relations.
* Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling and COSHH.
* Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes.
Desirable
* Previous experience within a pharmacy setting.
* Knowledge of hospital environment.
* Knowledge of pharmacy environment.
* Understanding of pharmacy related computer systems.
* Experience in staff training.
* Experience working in an aseptic services setting.
