The Research Grants Team works closely with the University of Edinburgh research and professional service communities, partners and funders, to maximize the research academic colleagues can undertake for the funding they receive. Our expert team delivers financial management and post award administration of the University's 3,500 research grants. A key member of the Research Grants team – the Deputy Research Finance Manager – will contribute to building a strong, supportive and effective team. You will manage a team of staff in the post award administration of externally funded research projects to ensure appropriate financial controls, compliance with sponsor regulations, and Research Governance and Edinburgh Research Office Research Governance framework.
Responsibilities
* Manage a team of staff in a deadline-driven, high-volume financial administration function.
* Ensure appropriate financial controls, compliance with sponsor regulations, and Research Governance frameworks.
* Support colleagues in achieving their research goals through financial expertise.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to challenge the status quo.
Qualifications
* Experience of staff management within a deadline-driven, high-volume financial administration function.
* Strong financial management and accounting background, with experience working within a robust financial control environment.
* Passion for using finance as an enabler to support colleagues in their goals.
* Highly self-motivated and able to thrive in constantly changing environments.
