Overview
Make a real impact at one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals. We’re looking for a proactive Deputy Claims & Inquest Manager to help deliver fair, timely resolution of clinical/EL/PL claims and high-quality inquest management—driving learning, patient safety, and staff support across CUH.
What you’ll do
* Lead day-to-day management of a mixed portfolio of clinical negligence and non-clinical claims, liaising with NHS Resolution and panel firms.
* Coordinate inquests end-to-end: evidence gathering, statements, disclosure, witness preparation, and representation at Coroner’s Court.
* Ensure robust governance: Duty of Candour, PIRHs, action tracking, and learning dissemination with divisions.
* Produce clear, insightful reports and dashboards (e.g., Learning from Deaths, inquests & claims outcomes) for Trust committees.
* Advise and train clinicians and managers on medico-legal process, disclosure, and good record-keeping.
* Support policy, risk, and quality-improvement work to reduce harm and repeat incidents.
About you
* Experienced in claims/inquests within healthcare or a regulated setting, with strong stakeholder skills and calm under pressure.
* Excellent communicator, analytically sharp, and highly organised; confident with RLDatix (or similar) and data reporting.
Why CUH
* High-profile, values-led Trust with a strong learning culture, complex and interesting caseload, and real scope to shape improvement.
* Supportive team, development opportunities, and hybrid working.
