Main duties of the job
As a Chief Cardiac Physiologist specializing in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM), you will play a key role in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating patients with heart rhythm disorders. You will work closely with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams to support patients with conditions such as arrhythmias and heart failure, and those requiring device therapy. Your responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic tests, assisting with device implantations and follow-ups, and interpreting results to guide patient care.

Job description
* Assist in establishing, coordinating, and delivering cardiology technical services across Northumbria Trust, including ECG, ETT, echocardiography, ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker, and ICD follow-up services, as well as cardiac catheterization.
* Ensure high-quality cardiology technical services aligned with NSF recommendations.
* Deputize for the department head to manage the cardiology team, including clerical staff, ATOs, SATOs, and physiologists.
* Perform advanced cardiac tests, interpret results, and provide reports to clinicians.
* Supervise and train trainee staff and other professionals.
* Serve as an expert resource for technical cardiology issues to primary and secondary care.
* Participate in research and development activities, including testing new equipment.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration (Essential):
* High-level professional and clinical knowledge acquired through formal training to a Clinical Physiology degree level.
* Degree in Clinical Physiology or BSc Healthcare Sciences, specializing in Cardiology, or equivalent, with additional qualifications such as BSE or BHRS exams, equivalent to a master's level.
* Registered Physiologist with RCCP or AHCS.
* Current and valid Immediate Life Support certification.
* BSE or BHRS accreditation.
* D32/33/34 NVQ Assessor or Mentorship certificate (not required for bank staff).
Desirable: Management qualification (e.g., ILM).
Experience and Knowledge (Essential):
* Substantial experience in cardiology, including senior-level experience.
