Band 5 Pharmacy Aseptic Services Senior Technician
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Aseptic Services Team of the Pharmacy Department. Applications are welcomed from registered Pharmacy Technicians and Science Manufacturing Technicians.
This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team providing essential cancer treatments to the people of Berkshire. The Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit currently holds a LOW overall risk rating which was awarded during our last external Regional Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance audit in September 2025.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to support the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit in the provision of chemotherapy to patients within the Trust.
You will be a qualified technician with recent retail, hospital or aseptic experience, good communication skills, and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice. You will have experience of teamwork, staff supervision, training others and work planning.
We welcome applications from Pharmacy Technicians and Science Manufacturing Technicians who do or do not have prior experience of working in an Aseptic Services Unit. A full training programme will be provided.
Main duties of the job
* To participate in the provision of a safe, efficient and cost-effective Aseptic Preparation Service for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* To be responsible for the supervision of activities within the clean room.
* To assist in the management of the service as necessary.

Knowledge/Skills
Essential criteria
* Methodical approach to work with accurate & precise attention to detail
* Able to assist in the training of staff
* Fluent in oral and written English with good verbal and written communication skills
* Experience of stock control
* Able to work with high level of concentration
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Able to use initiative, be calm and adaptable
Desirable criteria
* Procedure/policy writing
* Up-to-date experience of working with isolator technology and aseptic preparation of chemotherapy products
* Knowledge of GMP and regulations and legislation relevant to Aseptics
* Supervisory experience

Essential criteria
* NVQ level 3 Pharmacy services or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or SCOTVEC or equivalent and professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Science Manufacturing Technician
