Job Title: People Coordinator

About the Role
We are looking for an organised, customer‑focused People Coordinator to provide high‑quality administrative support across the full employee lifecycle. This role sits at the heart of our HR operations, supporting the wider People team and acting as a first point of contact for employee and manager queries.
Working closely with People Services, HR Business Partners and Payroll, you will help ensure our people processes run smoothly, efficiently and in line with our policies and standards. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their HR career within a busy and supportive team.
What you will be responsible for
1. Delivering HR administrative processes across the full employee lifecycle, including pre‑employment checks, references, benefits, training coordination and people‑related schemes.
2. Ensuring HR records are accurate, up to date and compliant with GDPR requirements.
3. Completing purchasing and invoice processing for HR goods and services in line with company procedures.
4. Preparing HR documentation, including employment contracts, offers and organisational change paperwork.
5. Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on HR administrative queries.
6. Contributing to continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and tools, including templates and manager resources.
7. Supporting the development, maintenance and rollout of HR policies, procedures and toolkits.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
8. HR administration experience gained in a similar-sized organisation.
9. Experience responding to employee and manager queries professionally and accurately.
10. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
12. Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
13. Customer service mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
14. Familiarity with HR legislation or willingness to learn.
15. Experience using Workday (advantageous).
16. Ability to role model Southern Water’s values and behaviours.
Desirable
17. CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 (or interest in working towards).
