Locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery (Head & Neck)
The closing date is 06 May 2026
The Department of Plastic Surgery is seeking a Consultant to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking team. The department is currently looking to expand and develop its services and to keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence, so it is looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team.
The Department offers a wide range of services to patients from lower leg trauma reconstruction to post‑cancer breast and head and neck reconstruction. The new consultant will help run and develop these services across the St Thomas' site as well as joining a well‑established Head and Neck Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT).
Main duties of the job
The Head and Neck surgical team currently consists of 4 ENT / Head and Neck surgeons, 3 Oral Maxillo‑Facial Surgeons and 3 Plastic Surgeons. In addition the MDT has dedicated members including 2 Clinical Oncologists, 3 Restorative Dentists, 4 Pathologists, 4 Dieticians, 3 Speech Therapists, 2 Cancer Specialist Nurses, 1 Tracheostomy Clinical Nurse Specialist and an MDT Coordinator.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who ideally has completed a Head and Neck Fellowship to further expand and develop the head & neck MDT, and to develop a de novo secondary complex reconstructive service.
GSTT has been designated as one of the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Experimental Cancer Centres. There is an ongoing commitment to expand and develop close links with the research centres in Kings College London as part of the integrated Academic Research Centre. There is therefore excellent opportunity to undertake translational research and to participate in clinical trials.
The post‑holder will undertake outpatient sessions and they will be expected to take an active role in developing the service and to participate in the teaching programmes of the department.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a first‑class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.
