We are looking for enthusiastic,self-motivated salaried GPs to fill up to 4 sessions, joining a strongmanagement team, putting excellence & safe patient care at the heart ofeverything we do. Significant improvements have already been made with theinfrastructure at the surgery, with a refurbished waiting room and a newtelephone system now in place.

About us
The Merchiston practice was established around1860 in the village of Stratton-St-Margaret. Until the 1950s, Stratton was asmall farming community and it still retains its separate identity, despite nowbeing a suburb of Swindon. The Partnership moved from the original Doctorshouse into new purpose-built premises in 1992.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primarycare setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered andtemporary patients. Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GPContracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt.
Clinical responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holderwill make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patientsat home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presentingproblems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workerswithin the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated andundiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Developing management plans for health in consultation with patients andin line with current practice disease management protocols.
Providing patients with support, advice, and health education.
Admitting patients to hospital and referring to other care providers asappropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreedstandards
Collecting data for audit purposes when agreed.
Compiling and issuing electronic acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible.)
Prescribing in accordance with the ICB formulary (or generically)whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Weekly on-call duties pro rata.
