These posts are ideally suited to people looking to develop and obtain an ST3 post, as many previous fellows have been successful. Royal Cornwall Hospital is based across three sites: Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance. The trauma service is delivered at Royal Cornwall Hospital and orthopaedic elective surgery is undertaken at St Michael’s Hospital. In addition, research posts support an array of NIHR‑approved RCTs, giving a thorough and CV‑enhancing understanding of research within a nationwide context. The department handles approximately 5,500 elective operations, treats around 2,700 trauma patients, and sees roughly 13,700 new out‑patients and 32,000 follow‑up patients per year.
Key Responsibilities
* Provision with colleagues of service to the Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
* Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences.
* Any responsibility that relates to a special interest.
* Involvement in research if applicable.
