You will work in accordance with Turning Points policies and processes supporting a team of Engagement and Prevention Workers and Criminal Justice Recovery Workers ensuring we deliver on all aspects of our contract. This includes working with complex clients, harm reduction interventions, police custody in‑reach, Outreach activities, promoting the service, supporting with public health campaigns as well as engaging with hard to reach and underrepresented cohorts who may benefit from coming into treatment. As an Engagement & Prevention Worker we offer a starting salary of £25,116 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £29,383 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary). Role Responsibility You’ll make a difference to service users lives as you develop the personal, flexible and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the scope and diversity of this role, working as part of a friendly and multidisciplinary team. As well as having allot of involvement with partnership agencies. You will provide advice and information to service users and members of the wider community. You will take a key role in promoting the service to other professionals and organisations with the aim of increasing referrals as well as attending larger community events to raise the profile of Turning Point in Wiltshire. This full‑time, permanent position is a County wide role, so driving is essential. The role would ideally suit someone with experience of the military combined with a social care background. Applications from ex‑military personnel and spouses/partners/family are desirable. The successful candidate will join the engagement and prevention team to use a blend of outreach and hub‑based interventions to support serving and non‑serving military personnel in reducing their Alcohol and/or substance use. This will include working closely with other supporting services, and utilising various military/veterans drop‑ins to engage/support anyone needing our service. You will work closely with the Army and veteran services in developing a robust treatment pathway. To do this you must be organised, focused, able to work in a team or independently, and be innovative in their approach. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to play an integral role in reducing the impact of Substance use in Wiltshire.
Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment as an Engagement and Prevention Worker, Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker or similar, you’ll have a deep understanding of substance use and the Recovery Agenda. It’s an extremely varied role, so flexibility and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. Naturally, we also look for Engagement and Prevention workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent. The managing of recovery coordination sessions, compiling risk assessments and risk management plans, care planning and reduction plans are just some of the varied duties you will be providing. As well as delivering presentations and workshops on various topics and driving our roaming recovery vehicle. Excellent IT skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook etc. are essential for this role. Holding a full driving licence and having access to a car is essential as you will be required to work across Trowbridge & Salisbury.
