We are seeking to appoint a pharmacist or nurse to be the Medication Safety Officer for the Trust, who will be an expert in medication safety and will plan, manage, and deliver medicines safety initiatives and improvements across the Trust centered around the patient. This role will be a job-share with the current Medication Safety Officer Pharmacist.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing expert advice on medication safety to ensure that processes throughout the Trust are safe, effective, and legal, supported by up-to-date policies, procedures, protocols, and training.
2. Applying systems thinking and thematic analysis to extract learning from medication incidents and develop corrective and preventative actions in line with PSIRF principles.
3. Promoting a culture of safety related to medicines and ensuring medication safety is prioritized in clinical practice.
4. Supporting the Trust in its preparation for CQC inspections concerning medicines safety.
