As a Pharmacist, you will provide exceptional professional pharmacy services, act as Responsible Pharmacist, support the pharmacy team, and contribute to the development of the business. You will help ensure a high quality patient and customer experience.
Senior Bank Pharmacist Responsibilities
* Assist the section lead pharmacist in managing and coordinating the clinical section.
* Oversee the day-to-day provision of ward pharmacy services, including staff allocation and coverage during sickness.
* Lead the training and induction of clinical pharmacy staff, ensuring they are adequately trained and supported.
* Deputise for the section lead pharmacist in their absence.
* Collaborate with senior staff to deliver an integrated pharmacy service and support the implementation of strategic plans for the Chase Farm site.
* Participate in medicine-related clinical audit, research, development and the creation of trust-wide guidelines.
Qualifications
* Completion of Clinical Diploma or equivalent.
* Completion of the Trust’s Essential Leadership Modules (ELM) or equivalent.
* Conducted service development.
* Formally line managed staff with evidence of objective setting and appraisal.
* Evidence of teaching.
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Assist in the planning and delivery of a clinical pharmacy service.
2. Ensure development of patient group directions and other relevant policies and guidelines.
3. Deliver a high quality, specialist ward-based pharmacy service, including medicines reconciliation, drug supply, review of complex medication regimens, interaction monitoring, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and discharge planning.
4. Promote high quality, cost-effective prescribing.
5. Ensure compliance with Trust policies, including medicines policy, formulary and microbiology policies.
6. Make evidence-based decisions, in partnership with patients and other professionals within the specialist area.
7. Make clinical decisions where limited information is available.
8. Develop and review Patient Group Directions.
Responsibility for Patients
1. Assist in identifying and managing changes to maintain a high quality clinical pharmacy service responsive to patient needs.
2. Ensure timely supply of medicines for discharge to reduce delays and bed blocking.
3. Oversee the clinical safety of dispensing functions for off-site units and external parties.
4. Deal effectively with situations where medication errors have occurred, including liaising directly with patients and staff concerned.
Responsibility for Leading and Managing
1. Manage the day-to-day provision of ward pharmacy services within the specified section, including workload allocation, sickness absence management and annual leave planning.
2. Provide cover for pharmacist colleagues during their absence.
3. Deputise for the section lead pharmacist in their absence.
4. Assist in managing, appraising and supporting the development of:
o Band 6 and 7 pharmacists
o Medicines management technicians
The post holder will be determined as a Band 8a bank pharmacist if they have evidence of the qualifications listed above.
