The Highland Council are seeking a Community Support Officer to help strengthen community networks and support local groups in shaping the future of their communities. This role supports the Council’s Place Based approach and the Community Empowerment Act, working directly with local organisations to build capacity, encourage participation, and support asset transfers and resilience initiatives.
Ideal candidates will bring strong communication and administration skills, a solid understanding of the community sector, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Purpose: To support engagement activity related to the implementation of the Community Empowerment Act and the Council’s ‘Placed Based approach’, including developing local relationships and networks with community bodies.
To provide support and build capacity amongst local community groups to enable greater involvement and participation in local planning and engagement activity. To support groups to take on local assets and develop resilience approaches in order to support the delivery of local priorities.
The post will be part of the Community Support and Engagement team and will work across either the West and Mid area. The post holder will work as part of the wider area-based team to support projects and activity across the area.
