Role Summary
The Psychotherapist will be the primary therapeutic practitioner within RLE's residential settings, delivering direct therapy, supervising mentors, and embedding a therapeutic culture within the homes. They will work closely with the Clinical Lead who retains overall governance and oversight, ensuring that interventions are safe, effective, and evidence-based.
Key Responsibilities
1. Direct Clinical Work
* Provide individual and group therapy to young people using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches.
* Develop case formulations and intervention plans, aligning with guidance from the Clinical Lead.
* Deliver therapeutic assessments where required and feed into EHCP reviews and LAC reviews.
2. Staff Training & Development
* Design and deliver informal and formal training sessions for residential staff (e.g., trauma-informed care, attachment, emotional regulation).
* Provide ongoing reflective practice sessions to staff to embed therapeutic approaches.
* Support the Clinical Lead in identifying staff training needs across homes.
3. Supervision of Mentors
* Provide structured clinical supervision to mentors and support staff engaged in therapeutic delivery.
* Maintain supervision logs in line with governance requirements.
* Escalate concerns, risks, or performance issues to the Clinical Lead.
4. Consultation & Indirect Work
* Provide consultation to staff and managers to support trauma-informed care planning.
* Liaise with social workers, schools, and multi-agency partners as needed.
* Support managers in embedding therapeutic language into daily care practices.
5. Clinical Governance & Reporting
* Keep accurate, up-to-date clinical notes.
* Provide monthly summaries of work completed for review by the Clinical Lead.
* Escalate safeguarding concerns immediately in line with policy.
Person Specification
Essential
* Registration with BACP, UKCP, HCPC or equivalent.
* Significant experience of providing therapy to children/young people with complex needs.
* Experience supervising or supporting junior staff/mentors.
* Skills in delivering training or workshops to staff teams.
* Ability to work across multiple sites independently.
Desirable
* Experience in residential care or fostering contexts.
* Specialist training in trauma/attachment models (e.g. DDP, EMDR, CAT).
* Experience in service development or supporting clinical governance.
