This is a hands-on engineering role at the crossroads of physics and advanced hardware development. You’ll design and build systems that generate and control particle beams, working directly with mechanical assemblies, vacuum systems, and experimental test setups.
Responsibilities
* Create, design, and evaluate intricate atom beam systems for high vacuum and ultrahigh vacuum.
* Oversee the practical installation, integration, and commissioning of vacuum systems and related equipment.
* Develop our tools to do alignment, diagnostics, beam characterization, and system troubleshooting.
* Work closely with the Atom Optics and Source teams to guarantee seamless cross-functional alignment.
* Communicate with the Barcelona-based Design & Simulations team to improve our tools and technologies.
* Documentation for support systems and iterative design reviews
Profile
* PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related technical field
* Practical experience working with high or ultra-high vacuum systems and associated instrumentation
* Familiarity with systems that generate atomic, ion, or electron beams
* Strong hands-on capabilities in experimental prototyping, system debugging, and operating test setup
