About this job
* Covering South West England – £30k benefits OTE £40k. My client is seeking a skilled Field Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting clients across the M4 Corridor covering Wiltshire, Bristol, Devon and Cornwall and you will ideally be based in the Bath/Bristol area.
This role involves installing, deploying and configuring IT hardware at a variety of customer sites while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY. You will be part of a nationwide engineering network and play a key role in delivering high‑quality technical solutions and excellent customer service.
Following a training period, this role includes participation in an on‑call rota (approximately 1 week in every 4 weeks and because of this you will receive £3k on‑call allowance, as well as overtime payments for each and every call out) which may involve out‑of‑hours and weekend work.
Overtime opportunities are also available.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, maintain and deploy IT networking and point‑of‑sale hardware.
* Configure hardware and troubleshoot installation issues.
* Ensure smooth integration with existing client systems.
* Provide technical support and guidance to customers on‑site.
* Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service activities.
* Collaborate with the service desk to deliver effective customer solutions.
* Participate in an on‑call rota including out‑of‑hours support.
Skills & Experience
* Strong networking and cabling experience, ideally across multiple networking technologies (Cisco experience beneficial).
* Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
* Excellent time management and punctuality.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Self‑motivated with a problem‑solving mindset.
* Flexible and able to adapt to changing environments.
* A strong team player.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience with ServiceNow.
Essential
* Full, clean UK driving licence. A company vehicle and fuel card is provided.
In return they are offering a good starting salary of £30k, as well as the on‑call bonus you get of £3k even if you don’t get called out and with overtime, you can realistically earn about £40k per year.
