We have an exciting opportunity for a Dietetic Assistant to join our Healthcare team at both HMP Belmarsh and HMP Thameside, prisons located in London.
We are recruiting for a Dietetic Assistant to work across HMP Belmarsh and HMP Thameside, you will spend your time equally across both sites. This is a newly created role and you will work closely with the Regional Dietitian to work with patients across the two prisons.
Hours
Monday - Friday
0830 - 1630 / 0900 - 1700
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £36,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
* Screen patients to collect a range of qualitative and quantitative data by a range of methods including face to face and telephone – this could include assisting the dietitian with the nutritional assessment of patients, screening them using the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool and taking diet recall information for dietitian review.
* Support behaviour change through delivering nutrition and lifestyle education group sessions for patients for weight management and self‑management for long term conditions group as well as 1:1 sessions to patients across both sites under supervision of the dietitian.
* Support patients to understand how diet and exercise impacts physical and mental health.
* Establish prisoner food representatives and liaise with them regularly.
* Help monitor patient health through running regular health hubs for patients with metabolic conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol and diabetes.
* Be responsible for collating patient information – including dietary information packs to support the education sessions delivered.

What we’ll look for in you
